Augmented Reality

This weekend my interest in augmented reality was piqued when my aunt told me about an app a doctor used in the hospital where my grandmother is staying that showed them the inside of the human body. The doctor was able to explain, in living color detail, what they were planning to do on my grandmother during her surgery. I can only assume it was an app similar to the Visible Body app: https://www.visiblebody.com/ar. With the app, the doctor was able to open a portion of the body and show the organs, removing any organs that may be blocking the view of what he was trying to explain.

I have since discovered one augmented reality app I plan to share with and explore with my family around our home: WallaMe ( http://walla.me/ )

What implications does augmented reality have in the world of instructional design? How is it being used in online course design right now?
